About me
I’m Emily, a high school student, and author of Piece of Cake. I like cooking, baking, taking pictures (I’m still working on that one), opening up Bon Apettit magazines when they come to my door each month, and writing. You’ll usually find me somewhere wandering around the supermarket, or in the kitchen baking something that is most likely readily available at a nearby store but I insist is better homemade. And you know what? It almost always is.
About Piece of Cake
Piece of Cake is my way of sharing the results of all my morning, afternoon, and midnight cravings with you. What you’ll find here are freshly baked photos and stories of my latest endeavors in the kitchen. I love a good challenge, so you’ll see a variety of homemade goods here- all recipes included (if I can do it, you can too). Basically, here at Piece of Cake, we attempt all kinds of recipes (mostly baked goodies, because my friends at school devour the leftovers that I can’t eat any more of), both easy and difficult.

If you haven’t heard from me in a while, it’s probably because I’m studying for some test or doing homework somewhere. I haven’t forgotten about you, though!

The Recipes
I spend a lot of my time perusing other blogs, so many of the recipes I cook up come from them. Mainly, though, I find myself digging through cooking magazines for new ideas, or tracking down recipes from shows I’ve seen on the Food Network. There’s also the occasional family recipe, but as my family’s idea of a recipe consists of “a little of this, a handful of that”, you won’t find too many of them here. Even more sparingly, I’ll post a recipe from one of my countless cookbooks that I love to read like novels but embarrassingly hardly open when I’m in need of a new recipe. What can I say, It slips my mind when I have the internet right in front of me.
